Rooney starts against Bayern after rapid recovery (AP)

MANCHESTER, England (AP)—Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will startagainst Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals Wednesday despitehaving been ruled out for up to 3 weeks after deleterious ankle ligaments inthe initial leg.

United physical education instructor Alex Ferguson had pronounced Tuesday which despite Rooney’s rightankle recovering good he wasn’t “prepared to take the risk” starting the Englandforward, adding which it was doubtful he would be upon the substitutes bench.
But Ferguson finished the preference to select Rooney as the lone striker after hecame through the precision session upon Tuesday.
“It wasn’t the serious repairs anyway though patently he wasn’t fit forSaturday,” Ferguson pronounced prior to kickoff with United 2-1 from the initial leg.“But the progress he has finished in the final dual days has been incredible.Yesterday afternoon, he did the little real good training. I finished my mind up after Isaw him yesterday.
“He’s not finished the lot of precision though you hope the work he’s finished in thegymnasium compensates. There’s no risk as it was the soft hankie injury, notligament damage, so which allows us to fool around him without worry of the recurrence.”
Without Rooney, who had scored 34 goals this deteriorate prior to Wednesday, Unitedlost 2-1 to Chelsea as well as was overtaken by the competition during the top of the PremierLeague.
“He is an impact player as well as the fans will be some-more buoyed when they see himin the team,” Ferguson said. “He’s the big a single for us, his form has been so goodthat he’s an important player for us.”
