JOHANNESBURG (AP)—African football confederation boss Issa Hayatou saidon Monday the continent can be unapproachable of what it has achieved, only two weeksbefore Togo takes the association to justice to solve the brawl caused by the fatalterrorist attack during the African Cup of Nations.

Hayatou avoided the subject upon Togo’s disagreement with CAF, that will beheard during the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sport upon May 7, as well as hascaused FIFA boss Sepp Blatter to step in as the mediator.

“I didn’t come here to speak about the hold up of the Togo team,” Hayatousaid, pointing out that he was in South Africa to be respected by President JacobZuma for services to African football.

Sitting alongside arch World Cup organizer Danny Jordaan, Hayatou preferredto look ahead to Africa’s first World Cup.

“We have realized our dream as well as everybody recognizes the value of Africansoccer,” pronounced Hayatou, who has led CAF since 1988. “South Africa is playingthe vital purpose as well as we should be unapproachable of the work we have done.”

Before the continent can celebrate the greatest sporting achievement, one ofAfrican football’s darkest moments will be remembered when Togo’s interest isheard by sport’s highest court.

Togo pulled out of the African Cup of Nations in January after gunmenattacked the group bus in Angola’s northern domain of Cabinda, killing twomembers of the celebration as well as seriously injuring the third.

CAF responded to Togo’s lapse home by banning it from the subsequent twotournaments, the low mark noticed as unnecessary as well as harsh.

“Everything has been pronounced as well as all has been finished as well as all is inhand,” Ha! yatou pr onounced of Togo’s appeal. “Certainly, we will have formula in thecoming days. Don’t be in the rush.”

Hayatou as well as Jordaan presented the united front in regard of African football’sprogress. For the first time, the continent will be represented by six teams atthe World Cup. While Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba as well as Cameroon forwardSamuel Eto’o have been two of the greatest names in world football.

“We have great footballers in the continent,” Hayatou said. “Football isthe one countenance in that Africa can compete equally,”

But the Cabinda tragedy led to Togo’s best-known player, striker EmmanuelAdebayor, giving up international football progressing this month, citing theemotional affects of the shooting.

“I will contend it is the detriment for football,” Hayatou pronounced of the ManchesterCity striker’s decision. “He is free to do what he wants as well as no one can forcehim to do what he doesn’t want. He can only judge himself, but it is the loss.”

Hayatou’s subsequent difference will have offered small satisfaction for thedemoralized Togo team.

“At inhabitant level, they (Togo) have been certified to play,” he said. “Theydid not postpone the inhabitant group of Togo (from all football), they onlysuspended them from the Cup of Nations. we think most between we don’t understand. They can play all the games solely the Cup of Nations.”

Jordaan pronounced he looked brazen to welcoming the CAF boss back to SouthAfrica in June for the World Cup.

“The calm of the World Cup is unequivocally the people, as they get excited andthey embrace the event,” Jordaan said. “We goal it will be an Africancelebration of song as well as dance, as well as good football as well as illusory goals.”

But the relationship between the World Cup horde country as well as CAF has alsoexperienced nervous mom! ents.

A local contributor asked Hayatou if he could set the record straight overwhether or not he upheld South Africa in the unsuccessful bid to horde the 2006tournament.

“It was the secret ballot. You don’t know who we voted for,” Hayatouresponded. “You cannot assume upon this, we aren’t even as old as my son. Youcannot only shoot during me similar to that.”
