MADRID (AP)—Spanish forward Fernando Torres expects to be ready for a WorldCup following knee surgery which will sideline him for 6 weeks.
Torres was operated upon Sunday in Barcelona as good as will skip a rest ofLiverpool’s season. Spain’s World Cup opener is opposite Switzerland upon June 16.
Torres said Monday upon his Web site which “the World Cup is a mostimportant thing” as good as “if all goes good we do not see myself blank it.”
Torres says he played harmed opposite Benfica in a Europa Leaguequarterfinals, refuting claims he has prioritized a World Cup.
Liverpool faces Torres’ former club, Atletico Madrid, in Thursday’s EuropaLeague semifinals.
